Project Brief: Each year, the Ardagh Young Creatives programme welcomes a group of young people aged 14-16 based in London from underrepresented groups to explore all aspects of design and how it can be used to help solve issues.
Working with established and emerging designers, the group learns about design processes and methods through hands-on workshops, conversations, collaboration and co-design. All of these efforts culminate in a live build in front of the design museum.
Our Services: Brief development, Co-design, Concept Design, Developed Design, Technical Design, Construction, Educational Workshop Delivery.
In collaboration with The Design Museum, Fandangoe Kid and Ardagh Young Creatives, we delivered a series of design and build workshops, culminating in the construction of a series of benches, aimed at increasing interaction and self reflection.
This year, the Ardagh Young Creatives programme followed the theme of Progress. The young designers explored this in depth over the 12 week workshop programme, first as strangers and eventually as friends. After learning about design, the brief was set based on issues that were important to the group; identity and mental health.
Learning practical skills to express their design solution, the young people decided the way to progress was through kindness and creating a physical structure where people could sit, reflect, draw and speak.
Throughout the programme, a lead designer guides the process of ideation and conception. This year, CAUKIN Studio worked with Fandangoe Kid to bring the young people’s ideas to life.
We'd like to thank Mehmet from WME for the Engineering support to ensure our structures were suitable and safe!
