Competition Entry: Ante Pavilion 2019
The Antepavilion Commission, in collaboration with the Architecture Foundation, offers emerging architects, artists and makers an opportunity to create new work through direct hands-on construction. Works are put on temporary display within the Columbia and Brunswick Wharf complex, a unique urban environment, situated on the Regents Canal in Haggerston, East London.
The brief challenged entrants to propose a new structure which takes its place as a ‘beacon’ of the Wharf complex and its alternative educational and experimental ethos.
Join us on the rooftop, be merry and sample fine local produce grown from your very own local produce.
The ‘Plop From The Top’ antepavilion combines eating, composting, food production and alfresco dining into one cyclical, off-grid and, above all, social process.
Like an organically grown, zero-waste mushroom, the structure rises from a fertile food garden and branches into two terraces. The upper terrace brings the nightclub bathroom conversation outdoors, with side-by-side composting long-drops offering a social forum, enhanced with views of East London. That compost, of course, feeds the salad and herbs growing below, ready to be served in your burger on the lower, event space terrace.
